Want to learn more about the architecture and history of Pleasant Home? Join us for a 1-hour docent led tour! Tours are led on a first come, first served basis - just arrive at any time during our open hours, and our team of docents will be there to greet you.
Tours are offered every Thursday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. No appointment necessary.
Also offered on select weekends - tickets must be purchased in advance for weekend tours.
We offer 3 distinct guided tours:
Behind the Scenes Servant’s Tour: This tour tells the story of Pleasant Home from the perspective of the servants who lived and worked here.
Expanded House Tour: Learn the history of Pleasant Home (covers all 3 floors of the home!)
Grounds Tour: An outdoor experience that tells the story of the four-acre estate and its original buildings. Hear the story of how John Farson acquired the land that became Pleasant Home, and see how the Mills Park renovation pays homage to the grounds’ original features

Self-Guided Tours
Looking to explore Pleasant Home at your own pace? On a tight schedule? Stop by for a self-guided tour which covers the first floor of the home. No appointment necessary.
We offer free self-guided tours every Thursday from 11:00 AM – 4:00 PM.

The Historic Homes & Gardens Tour is a unique opportunity to tour three of Oak Park’s historic gems, the Oak Park Conservatory, Pleasant Home and Cheney Mansion. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the Edwardian-style glass Oak Park Conservatory built in 1929, houses a botanical collection of more than 3,000 plants. Pleasant Home is considered one of the earliest and most distinguished examples of Prairie School Architecture in the nation showcasing 19th –century craftsmanship and artistry. Designed by Charles E. White, Jr. in 1913, Cheney Mansion is reminiscent of a gracious English Country Home. It was designated a local Oak Park landmark in 2004. Tours including lunch cost $35 per person and without lunch $20 per person.
